Fan Expo 2021 & Meeting the Boys!

Forgot to post this here earlier, so in case you don't follow me on FB/Insta...

I had an amazing time visiting Fan Expo here in Toronto last month, getting to meet Ricky, Julian, & Bubbles in person. I don't think they remembered my Mailbag package that I sent to Swearnet last year.... haha - but fair enough! They get so much love from their fans, and rightfully so. I'm sure it must get overwhelming at fan conventions when you have to talk to probably hundreds of people, one after the other. But they were soo nice and gracious; my nervousness at meeting them immediately went away. Also: Bubbles is legitimately blind & gets headaches with those crazy glasses on. Talk about dedication to your craft.

Anyway, I'm now lucky enough to have had my guitar signed by all three - the very same guitar that I wrote the 'Ricky' song on, no less;) You can check it all out and some of the other fun stuff we saw in the very first 420 Show Vlog I made with Gord! If you have any ideas of some other stuff you'd like to see us vlog, let me know.

There's some exciting news coming very soon (in the next couple weeks...) in the world of 'Ricky' the song, so stay tuned...

XO Viv

RICKY

As some of you may know, I have a slight obsession with a certain Canadian TV show and one character in particular from said show.

Those who know, know.

So, I wrote a song about it and it appeared on the postromantic EP. I finally put together a music video to go along with it, and it's up on my YouTube channel now!

It doesn't compare really to the incredible music video that the Boys already made for the acoustic version of the song last year, but it'll have to do.

Oh, and while you're over on Youtube - please subscribe to my channel and turn on notifications. I do a livestream every Friday at 4:20-6pm Eastern with Gord on sax, and I'll be posting lots of fun new stuff this year.

Thanks for reading, watching, listening <3

postromantic

She's here! found.ee/postromantic

Good morning! postromantic is now officially released.

I'll be livestreaming today for the traditional 4:20 EDT show. It will be on Youtube this time: https://youtu.be/XGqnFgH_u4w
Because I am fallible & in case the above link doesn't work for you when it's 4:20 pm EDT, you'll also be able to find the livestream through my channel --- https://www.youtube.com/viviennewilder

I'll be posting new lyric videos every Wednesday this summer as well as doing a weekly Friday 4:20 livestream, so please stay tuned & subscribe if you like.

I did an interview earlier this week with Paul Corby from Radio Regent here in Toronto. I had a chance to talk about some of the ideas behind the songs on postromantic and how they pertain to this moment in time. That will be broadcast locally today, but will be posted as a podcast as well at https://djpaulcorby.blogspot.com/

Thank you Peter at Fallen Tree for the massive support. Thank you Neil Whitford for producing the heck out of this project - that's an understatement. Thank you Andrew Mullin for once again making magic happen with your mad skills (Mullin co-produced, engineered, mixed, and drummed on this EP. All at the same time). Thank you Reuben Ghose at Mojito Mastering yet again. Thank you Jon Brooks for connecting me with Fallen Tree & calling me hateful. Thank you Lindsay Dworkin for your advice!!! Thank you Kelsey McNulty, Joe Ernewein, Scott Harwood, Martin Schmitt, & Ben Balmer for listening to the earliest mixes & providing such thoughtful feedback. Thank you Andrew Roorda for being an awesome photographer. Thank you McGyle! Dang I miss the Vice Presidents. Thank you to my family; it's your fault that this is happening. Thank you Gordon Hyland, you are a true Renaissance guy - a legendary Fallout weapon - and everything you touch gets a bonus +1 charisma, +1 perception, & +5 intelligence.

Okay I think that's all for now. Thanks for reading, thanks for your support. Let me know what you think about postromantic. <3

Exclaim! premiers my newest music video for 'Jimmy'

I have some great news to share this morning!

Exclaim! Magazine has premiered the brand new video that Gordon Hyland made for my song ‘Jimmy’, from my forthcoming EP, postromantic.

Link: https://exclaim.ca/music/article/vivienne_wilder_new_single_video_jimmy_toronto

This video is a product of the deep days of COVID-19 Quarantine, and is shot entirely on phone from the roof of our apartment, and from the inside of Gord’s car, and on a quick walk along Toronto’s waterfront. An extra special thank-you to Martin Dworkin for gifting us with the old TV that we used in the making of this video. Oooh so retro!

The full postromantic EP comes out on Fallen Tree Records this Friday, June 12! You can pre-buy/save it at https://found.ee/postromantic

I’ll be doing a livestream on Friday, and will send out/post the link to that on the 12th proper.

Thanks for reading, listening, & watching!

New single 'Never Lovers' released on Fallen Tree Records today

Well, it's been weird. I hope you're holding up okay whether you're staying home or still out in the world working.

I've been looking forward to today for a while. In fact, I was looking forward to YESTERDAY, but the internet let. me. down. and the release got set back slightly. Oh well, just a small delay of gratification, & now here she is; follow this link to stream it now

A few months ago I got into talks with a new record label out of Edmonton called Fallen Tree Records, and we decided to partner up in releasing my next EP, 'postromantic'.

So, today we release the first single, Never Lovers. It's a fictional narrative by someone on the wrong side of a one-sided love. The song digs into the feelings of hopelessness, revenge, & self-harm that spring from being left in that vulnerable state. This fits into an overarching theme that all the songs on the EP share, which is doomed love in it's many wondrous forms.

Neil Whitford - star guitarist, wizard producer, & friend - sculpted these six songs into what I think are little cinematic jewels. The entire EP is embroidered with Neil's hallucinatory soundscapes and a world of minute detail. Also on the team was longtime collaborator Andrew Mullin, who engineered, mixed AND played drums (at the same time! Just kidding!). Mullin is one of the best, and besides his impeccable skills and taste, I hazard to say, selfishly, he is the world champion of recording my vocals and making me sound like I know what I'm doing.

I'd also like to thank the other musicians on the track. Kyle Teixeira added some of what is probably the grimiest bass I've heard in a while to this track. Gordon Hyland's ghost tenor saxophone can be heard lurking around, too.... like... La Llorona of rock'n'roll saxophone.

In other news, a completely amazing thing happened to me this week. In early February I sent a care package to Ricky, Julian, & Bubbles of The Trailer Park Boys that included a tape of with my Ricky song on it... and this happened.

By the way, Ricky is going to be the second single we're releasing off the EP, so keep an eye out for that at the end of next month. 'postromantic' will be released in full on 12 June 2020. If you're in Toronto, I'll be having a release show/party on June 10th (...hopefully) at the Baby G on Dundas West.

Alright, this post is long enough. If you made it this far, you're a total freak, but I love you.

Stay insane,
Love,
-Vivienne

Welcome to my new website

Hey there.

It's been a while since I've maintained a blog, & it feels like high time to get back at it. The bright side (really pushing here) of this COVID19 quarantine thing is it's getting me back on track with some housekeeping, so to speak.

A lot's been goin on and I'm excited to announce the release of a new EP this year on 12 June 2020.

It's called postromantic & the first single off it is coming out in just under a week, on 20 March 2020. The song is called 'Never Lovers' and it's about being on the wrong side of a one-sided love affair, and the ensuing anger, grief, jealousy, and self-harm.

.... I can't wait to share it with you.

Until soon,

Vivienne
